Behind every successful woman candidate is a Circle of strong women who have her back.
— Women's Progressive Leadership Circles

Helping progressive women candidates find their Power & Voice

Women’s Progressive Leadership Circles (WPLC) help women grow as leaders, face campaign challenges, and become confident in the political arena.

A Women’s Progressive Leadership Circle is your competitive advantage. Circles are your peer group, experiencing the same campaign challenges at the same time. WPLC allows you to raise and work through issues that are discussed nowhere else. With the leadership of corporate leadership coach Janine Moon and psychologist and political activist Bobbie Celeste, you will access mentorship and expertise as you navigate your political and personal life and create healthy support systems.

This Circle gave me the opportunity to share [my experiences as a woman of color] in a way that I felt heard and where I did not feel dismissed or undervalued by the other group members.
— Franklin County Commissioner Erica Crawley

Powerful Tools

Women face distinct challenges in running a campaign. Women candidates are entering new situations, learning to juggle multiple roles, facing political party expectations, all within a traditionally male-dominated space. Circles provide campaign training in areas like communication and fundraising plans, but just as importantly we create a safe space to discuss the mental and emotional toll of campaign life. The Circle becomes a place for you to deepen the source of your power and strength of your voice during your campaign.

Peer Groups

Your peers can help you expand perspectives and “see” progressive landscapes more clearly. The wisdom of the Circle supports your emotional and mental needs throughout the campaign. You will wisely consider your steps and voice in your chosen political arena. The relationships created in your circle are significant during your campaign and beyond.

Bobbie Celeste

Bobbie Celeste has a passion for progressive politics and psychology. In college, she protested the war in Vietnam, registered black voters in the South, and fought for women’s rights and later gay and trans rights. Bobbie has volunteered in presidential, gubernatorial, congressional, state legislative, city council, and school board campaigns.  She has seen how public policy is changed by political action. Today, she continues her activism to stop the current administration from destroying the progress that has been made in her lifetime.

Bobbie, with the partnership of Janine Moon, created Women’s Progressive Leadership Circles after seeing how women are treated in the political arena. Politics is still primarily a man’s world, with fewer than one-third of most political bodies made up of women. Between 2018-2025, there have been 16 Circles that guide, support, and mentor women who are taking on the daunting task of running for public office. The Circles provide a safe, women-centered space where the agenda is focused on candidates’ well-being.

While raising two daughters, she returned to graduate school to become a counselor and later a clinical psychologist.  As the spouse of a three-term state representative and sister-in-law of a two-term Ohio governor, she experienced firsthand how campaigning and serving can impact family and friends. As a psychologist, she served women who were struggling with anxiety, depression, sexism, family, and career issues. Continuing her advocacy, she consulted with the Ohio Psychological Association, advising and training students and professionals on policy, ethics, and advocacy for mental health treatment at the state and national level.

Bobbie retired as a psychologist in 2024 and currently splits her time between California and Ohio, consulting with LEADOhio and volunteering for advocacy groups in CA. She is frequently found in Los Angeles or Traverse City, Michigan, where her three grandchildren live. Having served with husband Ted as Peace Corps Volunteer teachers on a small island in Fiji, they enjoy vacations on the island of  Key West, Florida.
